Nebraska Broadcasters Association: “Explore Careers in Broadcasting”
THE PROBLEM: The Nebraska Broadcasting Association approached us to help convey the message that broadcasting is a fast paced career choice with a variety of unique paths. This campaign was geared toward incoming students. We found that Generation Z (those born after 1995) had a variety of misconceptions about becoming broadcasting majors. Our job was to break the stereotype that a career path in broadcasting led to only talk show radio and news anchoring.
THE SOLUTION: We created a campaign centered around the idea of “Channel You.” We set up a Youtube channel with the same name, and created a series of videos for potential broadcasting students. The videos included interviews with radio personalities, broadcasting engineers, production managers, news anchors, account executives and technical media producers. These interviews gave a new and engaging view of the variety of opportunities available in a broadcasting career. Alongside the channel, we also implemented promotional materials, including bookmarks, pens and water bottles.
